Description
A 10-metre (11 yards) length of recycled sari silk ribbon in the natural undyed cream colourway.
Each pack may differ slightly in texture and shade, and may have different colour tones along it’s length.
The ribbon will have raw edges, knots and seams, and will vary in width from approx 3mm to 30mm if ironed flat.
The ribbon is a by-product from the manufacture of sari silk that may otherwise be thrown into landfill. Offcut strips of the fabric are tied or sewn together by women’s cooperatives in India. I hand-dyed these ribbons in the same way as the yarns.
I measure the ribbon into 10 metre (11 yard) lengths and wind it into a hank (long tied loop). The ribbon is then packaged in a reusable gripseal plastic bag, to keep it clean and dry, or a paper bag.
Recycled sari silk ribbon is ideal for a wide variety of embellishment uses such as junk journalling, card-making, bouquet ties, gift wrap, and textile jewellery. Get project inspiration from our blogpost Sari Silk Ribbon Project Ideas.
