Description
4ply Champagne – Fireside: 50gram skeins of eco 4ply British wool blend yarn, hand dyed in a colourway of warm reds and oranges. This colourway is inspired by evenings spent around the fire pit in our back garden!
This yarn is a blend of British Bluefaced Leicester wool, UK Alpaca, and bio-nylon – a plant-based, biodegradable replacement to nylon, which adds durability but is not derived from fossil fuels. This soft yarn in smaller skeins is ideal for mitts, hats, and socks (2 skeins required for socks). The yarn is pictured knitted into the Woodside Mitts and Henrico Hat, which are both free patterns on Ravelry.
This is a limited edition yarn, with just a few skeins left in stock.
The Bluefaced Leicester is a longwool breed of sheep which originated from Northumberland around the beginning of the 20th century. They have long curly threadlike wool which is dense but lightweight and lustrous. It is often likened to mohair because of its softness.
The Alpaca is from UK herds. It is soft enough for next-to-skin garments, as warm as cashmere, yet strong and less likely to pill with wear.
Combined with bio-nylon, this is an ideal yarn for many types of projects.
