Baby Alpaca
Alpacas are a domesticated species of the South American camelid. Baby Alpaca yarn is made from the undercoat of young animals, and is softer than regular alpaca. To classify as baby alpaca, the fleece has to be sheared from one-year-old alpaca. The fibres from the underside of the neck are the softest and finest of the entire fleece, which is sheared off the animal in one large piece.
Alpaca yarn can be itchy, as there are many qualities of it available. The alpaca yarns that we source are the softest we can find.
The yarn is very lightweight, strong and warm – warmer in fact than the equivalent weight of wool. It is easy to care for but can also felt easily. Do not tumble dry it if you don’t want it to shrink!

The Light and Lacy Shawl was designed by me to make the most of one skein of our Lace Egyptian or Lace Decadence yarn.
The pattern uses an easy cluster design with a small repeat that is easily memorised. The kit is suitable for confident beginner level crocheters.
The kit includes a printed copy of the pattern together with the yarn, which is available in a variety of beautiful hand-dyed colourways.
Our Flowery Infinity Scarf knit kit has been developed as a collaboration with Yorkshire-based knitwear designer Sandra Nesbitt.
The scarf was designed especially for one skein of DK Egyptian yarn, taking full advantage of the yarn’s drape and softness.
The pattern incorporates a stunning flower-effect wrap stitch worked on a large 10mm circular needle. Written instructions are accompanied by step-by-step pictures showing exactly how to create the flowers. The kit is suitable for intermediate level knitters.

The Garter Ribbon Shawl was designed by me as a beginner kit using 2 skeins of Chunky Alpaca yarn.
The pattern is knit entirely in garter stitch (all knit) with basic shaping. A simple eyelet edging is used to thread through the co-ordinating hand-dyed silk ribbon that is included in the kit.
